An indispensable jewel to preserve
The first 300 square meters of rainforest for the makoi Family!
The rainforest - a magical place full of life, colours and secrets. But this fascinating and precious part of our planet is in great danger. We, the Makoi family, have decided not only to become active in marine conservation but also to promote the preservation of the rainforest. The loss of rainforest areas has far-reaching consequences for the climate, wildlife and humanity as a whole. In the following lines, we would like to highlight the importance of rainforest protection and shed light on the negative effects that arise if we do not preserve this valuable habitat.
1. Climate change and the rainforest: The rainforest plays a crucial role in combating climate change. It is a carbon sink and absorbs large amounts of greenhouse gases, especially CO2. Through photosynthesis, trees absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, which improves air quality and reduces the greenhouse effect. Protecting the rainforest is therefore essential to limit the global temperature increase and keep the climate stable.

Diversity and significance of wildlife
Diversity and significance of wildlife
2. Diversity and significance of wildlife The rainforest is home to an incredible variety of animal species, from tiny insects to majestic mammals. Many of these species are endemic and exist exclusively in this habitat. The loss of rainforest areas leads to a drastic decline in biodiversity and can lead to the extinction of animal species before we have even discovered them. Protecting the rainforest is thus crucial to maintaining the ecological balance and preserving the unique wildlife.
3. impact on humanity: Protecting the rainforest is not only important for nature, but also for humanity itself. Many indigenous peoples have lived in and from the resources of the rainforest for centuries. Their knowledge of sustainable land use and medicinal plants is invaluable for modern medicine and the preservation of cultural diversity. In addition, the rainforest plays a crucial role in regulating water and maintaining soil fertility, which in turn influences agriculture and food production.
Negative impacts if we do not protect the rainforest:
The loss of the rainforest would have devastating consequences. The release of large amounts of carbon dioxide would accelerate climate change and increase extreme weather phenomena such as droughts and floods. Biodiversity would decrease dramatically, which could throw the entire ecosystem out of balance. In addition, the loss of rainforest would destroy the livelihoods of indigenous peoples and lead to social conflict. Humanity would lose the benefits that the rainforest provides in terms of medicine, food and clean water.

Summary on the protection of the rainforest
Summary on the protection of the rainforest
The rainforest is an invaluable part of our planet. Its protection is crucial for the climate, biodiversity and humanity itself. We must work together to preserve the rainforest by promoting sustainable land use, fighting illegal deforestation and restricting the trade in rainforest products. Only by protecting the rainforest can we ensure a sustainable future for our planet and preserve the beauty and uniqueness of this wonderful ecosystem.
Direct support through the purchase of makoi products!
Thanks to your purchases and the resulting donations, we were able to officially place a first part of the rainforest in Peru under protection with Makoi. Now, thanks to the wilderness sponsorship, we can preserve 300 square metres of rainforest in the long term. This area of 300 square metres of rainforest binds 18,000 kg of CO2. The protected land belongs to the "Secret Forest" nature reserve, which is located along the Tambopata River in the Madre de Dios region. The "Secret Forest" is the habitat of colourful toucans, shy spring monkeys and huge Brazil nut trees.
Our goal this year is to start more projects like this and support even more valuable work for our planet.
Who is Wilderness International?
Wilderness International is a non-profit environmental organisation that works to protect and restore natural habitats worldwide. It acquires land to protect rainforests, carries out reforestation projects and raises awareness of conservation issues. Wilderness International works closely with local communities, governments and other organisations to achieve long-term and sustainable results.
